বিদ্যমান স্ক্রু প্রেসের সহায়তায় ১৪৪০ সালে মহান রোম সম্রাজ্যে মুদ্রণ যন্ত্র উদ্ভাবণ করেন জার্মান জোহানস গুটেনবার্গ । তিনি পেশায় ছিলেন একজন স্বর্ণকার । তাস খেলার সুবিধার জন্য তিনি কাঠের টুকরায় ছবি খোদাই করে কালি মেখে কাগজে ছাপ দিয়ে তাস বানালেন। এরপর তিনি বড় বড় কাঠের ব্লকে মহাপুরুষের ছবি এবং সংক্ষিপ্ত জীবনী খোদাই করে কাগজের উপরে চাপ দিলেন। চমৎকার ছবি পাওয়া গেল। একদিন এক পাদ্রীরী তাকে উৎসাহিত করলেন বড় বড় মহামানবের জীবন কাহিনী চেপে জনগণের মধ্যে বিলি করতে। তাঁরই উৎসাহে গুটেনবার্গ “মহা জীবন কথা” ছাপলেন। এটাই পৃথিবীর প্রথম চাপার অক্ষরের বই । এরপর তিনি বাইবেল ছাপাতে মনস্থ করেন। অনেক বুদ্ধি করে এবারে তিনি হাজার হাজার কাঠের অক্ষর বানালেন। অক্ষর গুলি সাজিয়ে অল্প কয়েক দিনের মধ্যেই তিনি পুরো বাইবেল ছেপে ফেললেন। ১৪৫০ সালে তিনি প্রথম ছাপা খানা খোললেন এবং ১৪৫৫ সারে প্রথম বই বাইবেল চাপা হয়। এরপর চাপাকানার উন্নতি হতে শুরু করে। ১৮২২ সালে বৃটেনের আর ডব্লিউ কোপ এসবিয়ন প্রেস তৈরি করেন। যার একটি সংকলন ঢাকা নগর জাদুঘরে রক্ষিত আছে। ১৮৯৩ সালে উক্ত যন্ত্রটির একটি উন্নত সংরক্ষণ বের করা হয় যা এখন বিজ্ঞান জাদুঘরে প্রদর্শীত হচ্ছে।
The printing press was inbventged in the Holy Roman Empire by the German Johannes Gutenberg around 1440; Gutenberg was a goldsmith by profession. For convenience of the playing cards, by engraving the pictures on woods and then colouring them he stamped them on paper to make cards. Later then he stamped the large wooden block by engraving the pictures and brief biograhpies of great men on paper and nice printings were found. Once a priest encouraged him to distribute the biograhpies of great men towards common people after printing.Due to the motivation, Gutenberg printed`story of Grat Men’ this was the first printed book in the world. The he decided to print the Bible. He made thousands of wooden letters by special techniques. He printed the whole Bible within few days by arranging the letters. In 1455 he opened first printing house and first book the Bible was printed. Then the printing houses were started to be developed. In 1822, RW cope Asbion manufactured the printing presses. One of them was preserved in Dhaka city Museum. In 1893 a developed edition was introduced, one of which is being demonstrated in science museum.

মুনীরা সুলতানা এনডিসি, অনানুষ্ঠানিক বিজ্ঞান শিক্ষা কার্যক্রমের মাধ্যমে একটি বিজ্ঞানমনস্ক জাতি গঠনের লক্ষে ৩১ অক্টোবর, ২০২৪খ্রিঃ তারিখে জাতীয় বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি জাদুঘরের মহাপরিচালক হিসেবে দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেন।
তিনি ১৯৯৩ সালে বাংলাদেশ সিভিল সার্ভিস প্রশাসন ক্যাডারে যোগদানের মধ্য দিয়ে কর্মজীবন শুরু করেন। তিনি বেশিরভাগ সময় বিভিন্ন মন্ত্রণালয় ও অধিদপ্তরে এবং মাঠ প্রশাসনে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে উদ্ভিদবিদ্যা বিভাগ থেকে তিনি স্নাতকোত্তর ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। চাকরিতে কর্মরত অবস্থায় তিনি নর্দান ইউনিভার্সিটি, ঢাকা থেকে গভর্নেন্স স্টাডিজ বিষয়ে দ্বিতীয় স্নাতকোত্তর ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। তিনি ২০১৮ সালে ন্যাশনাল ডিফেন্স কলেজ থেকে ন্যাশনাল ডিফেন্স কোর্স সাফল্যের সাথে সম্পন্ন করেন।
চাকুরিরত অবস্থায় তিনি দেশে এবং বিদেশে বিভিন্ন পেশাগত প্রশিক্ষণ কোর্স সাফল্যের সাথে সম্পন্ন করেন। একটি বিজ্ঞানমনস্ক জাতি গঠনে এবং সারা দেশে বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তির সুফল ছড়িয়ে দিতে তিনি নিরলস কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন।

Munira Sultana ndc, took charge as Director General of National Museum of Science and Technology on October 31, 2024 with the aim of building a science minded nation through informal science education programs.
She started her carrier in the Bangladesh Civil Service administration cadre in 1993. She served mostly in field administration and different ministries and directorate. She earned her degree of M.Sc. in Botany from the University of Dhaka. While in service, she earned a second Masters degree in Governance Studies from the Northern University, Dhaka. She completed the National Defense Course successfully in 2018 from National Defense College.
She acquired various professional training courses during her service period in home and abroad and keenly interested in building a science minded nation and spread the blessings of Science and Technology across the country.
