নিউটনের বর্ণ চক্র
সাদা রং এর আলো যে সুনির্দিষ্ট অনুপাতে সাতটি ভিন্ন রং এর আলোর মিশ্রণ তা এই প্রদর্শনীবস্ত্তটি প্রদর্শন করে। এই সাতটি রং হলোঃ বেগুনী, নীল, আসমানী, সবুজ, হলুদ, কমলা ও লাল (বেনীআসহকলা)। চক্রের উপর এই রংগুলি চিত্রিত আছে। যখন চক্রটিকে ঘুরানো হয়, তখন অতি অল্প সময়ে মানব মস্তিস্কের গ্রহণ অক্ষমতা জনিত কারণে প্রতিটি বর্ণকে আলাদাভাবে পর্যবেক্ষণ করা সম্ভব হয় না। এই সম্মিলিত ফলাফল হলো সাদা রং এর চক্র।
কোন নিউটনের চক্র হল সেই চক্র যার অংশগুলোতে রংধনু রং বিদ্যমান। যখন চক্রটিকে ঘুরানো হয়, তখন রঙগুলি ক্ষয়িত হয়ে সাদা হয়; আইজ্যাক নিউটন এভাবে দেখাতে সক্ষম হয়েছিলেন যে রংধনুতে পাওয়া ভিন্ন সাতটি রঙের সংমিশ্রণ হল সাদা আলো। কোন চক্রের উপর সাতটি ভিন্ন রঙের মুদ্রণ দ্বারাও নিউটনের চক্র তৈরি করা যায় (এখানে তাই করা হয়েছে)। বৃত্তাকার চক্রে লাল, সবুজ ও নীলের সংমিশ্রণেও একই ফলাফলে পৌঁছানো যায়। এটি দৃষ্টি জড়তার কারণে ঘটে। কোনো কার্ড বোর্ডের টুকরা ব্যবহার করে এটা সহজেই বাড়িতে তৈরি করা যায়। এটি একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ আবিষ্কার ছিল এ হিসেবে যে এটি প্রমাণ করে যে আলোক বর্ণহীন নয়, বরং এতে রঙ মিলে একত্রে ম্লান সাদা রং তৈরি করে যা বর্ণহীন হিসেবে বিবেচিত। এই ধর্ম আলোর বিচ্ছুরণ মূলনীতির উপর প্রতিষ্ঠিত।
This exhibits demonstrates that the light of white colour is a mixture of seven different light of colours in specific proportions. These sevens colours are: violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red (VIBGYOR). These colours are painted on the disc. When the disc is rotated, it can not be observed the colours individually due to inability of perception of human brain in too short time. The combined effect is white colour of disc.
A Newton disc is a disc with segments in rainbow colours. When the disc is rotated, the colors fade to white; In this way Isaac Newton demonstrated that white light is a combination of the seven different colours found in a rainbow. A Newton Disc can be created by painting a disc with the seven different colours. A combination of red, green and blue in the circular disc will yield the same result. This is due to the phenomenon called persistence of vision. It can easily be made at home using a card board piece. It was an important discovery as it proves that light is not colourless, but has colour in it which together converge to give a faded white colour which we consider colourless. This property is based on the principles of dispersion of light.

মুনীরা সুলতানা এনডিসি, অনানুষ্ঠানিক বিজ্ঞান শিক্ষা কার্যক্রমের মাধ্যমে একটি বিজ্ঞানমনস্ক জাতি গঠনের লক্ষে ৩১ অক্টোবর, ২০২৪খ্রিঃ তারিখে জাতীয় বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তি জাদুঘরের মহাপরিচালক হিসেবে দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেন।
তিনি ১৯৯৩ সালে বাংলাদেশ সিভিল সার্ভিস প্রশাসন ক্যাডারে যোগদানের মধ্য দিয়ে কর্মজীবন শুরু করেন। তিনি বেশিরভাগ সময় বিভিন্ন মন্ত্রণালয় ও অধিদপ্তরে এবং মাঠ প্রশাসনে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে উদ্ভিদবিদ্যা বিভাগ থেকে তিনি স্নাতকোত্তর ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। চাকরিতে কর্মরত অবস্থায় তিনি নর্দান ইউনিভার্সিটি, ঢাকা থেকে গভর্নেন্স স্টাডিজ বিষয়ে দ্বিতীয় স্নাতকোত্তর ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। তিনি ২০১৮ সালে ন্যাশনাল ডিফেন্স কলেজ থেকে ন্যাশনাল ডিফেন্স কোর্স সাফল্যের সাথে সম্পন্ন করেন।
চাকুরিরত অবস্থায় তিনি দেশে এবং বিদেশে বিভিন্ন পেশাগত প্রশিক্ষণ কোর্স সাফল্যের সাথে সম্পন্ন করেন। একটি বিজ্ঞানমনস্ক জাতি গঠনে এবং সারা দেশে বিজ্ঞান ও প্রযুক্তির সুফল ছড়িয়ে দিতে তিনি নিরলস কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন।

Munira Sultana ndc, took charge as Director General of National Museum of Science and Technology on October 31, 2024 with the aim of building a science minded nation through informal science education programs.
She started her carrier in the Bangladesh Civil Service administration cadre in 1993. She served mostly in field administration and different ministries and directorate. She earned her degree of M.Sc. in Botany from the University of Dhaka. While in service, she earned a second Masters degree in Governance Studies from the Northern University, Dhaka. She completed the National Defense Course successfully in 2018 from National Defense College.
She acquired various professional training courses during her service period in home and abroad and keenly interested in building a science minded nation and spread the blessings of Science and Technology across the country.
