প্রদর্শনীবস্তুটির নবটি ঘুরিয়ে দিলে দেখা যাবে নিচের ঘূর্ণায়মান চুম্বকটির প্রভাবে চুম্বক শলাকাগুলি কেমন নিরবিচ্ছিন্নভাবে তাদের অভিমুখ পরিবর্তন করে।

কারণ: কোন একটি একক চৌম্বক উত্তর মেরুকে দণ্ড চুম্বকের চৌম্বক ক্ষেত্রের মধ্যে রাখলে তা দণ্ড চুম্বকটির উত্তর মেরু থেকে দক্ষিণ মেরুর দিকে যে পথ ধরে সরে যাবে সেই কাল্পনিক রেখাটিকে চৌম্বক বলরেখা বলে। দণ্ডচুম্বকটির একটি নিজস্ব চৌম্বকক্ষেত্র তাকে ঘিরে থাকে। এ চৌম্বকক্ষেত্রটির সর্বত্র চৌম্বক প্রাবল্য সমান নয়। দণ্ড চুম্বকের ক্ষেত্র ছাড়াও ভূ-চুম্বকের চৌম্বক ক্ষেত্র একই সাথে একটি লব্ধি চুম্বকক্ষেত্র রচনা করে। এই লব্ধি চুম্বক ক্ষেত্রের মান ও দিক অবস্থান ভেদে পরিবর্তিত হয়।    

Rotate   the knob   and   observe  that as  the  central magnet  rotates   the compass  needles  continuously  align  themselves   to form  a definite  pattern  .

The bar magnet has a magnetic field around it with varying   intensity at different points. A  magnetic  line of  force  is  an imaginary  line  moving   from north  pole  to  south  pole  in the direction  of   the   magnetic   intensity. Here the small   magnetic   needles   continuously align   themselves along   the lines of forces around   the bar magnetic.
