বাংলাদেশের একমাত্র ইস্পাত শিল্পের নাম “চট্টগ্রাম ইস্পাত কারখানা”। এটি উত্তর পতেঙ্গায় অবস্থিত । বাংলাদেশে কোন খনিজ লৌহ নেই এবং পিগ-লোহা তৈরির জন্য কোন বাত্যা চুল্লীও নেই। বিদেশ হইতে আমদানীকৃত পিগলোহা এখানে ব্যবহার করা হয় এবং বিভিন্ন প্রকার ইস্পাত দ্রব্য তৈরি করা হয়। এখানে ইস্পাত তৈরির জন্য ওপেনহার্য পদ্ধতি ব্যবহৃত হয়। এখানে  সি.আই.সিট, এম.এস.প্লেট,বিলেট,ইংগটও বিপি শীট তৈরি করা হয়।

The name of only steel industry in Bangladesh is “Chittagong Steel Mill”. It is situated in north Patenga. There is no iron mine in Bangladesh and no blast furnace to produce pig iron. The imported pig iron from adroad is used here to manufacture various types of steel wares. Open hearth method is used here to produce steel. CIC sheets, MS plated, billets, ingots and B.P. sheets are manufactured here
