আড় তরঙ্গ হলো এমন ধরনের তরঙ্গ যাতে আন্দোলনরত কণাগুলির সরণ সর্বদা তরঙ্গ প্রবাহের দিকের সাথে লম্বভাবে কাজ করে।
হস্ত চালিত হাতলের সাহায্যে ক্যামকে ঘুরানো হয়। ক্যামের উৎকেন্দ্রিকতার কারণে এর ঘূর্ণনের সাথে সাথে উলম্ব দ-গুলির শীর্ষ বিন্দুসমূহ একটি আড় তরঙ্গ প্রদর্শন করে। 

Transverse waves are such wave in which displacements of the oscillating particles are perpendicular to the direction of the propagation.

A handle rotates a cam manually. Due to eccentricity of the cam, the top points of the vertical rod demonstrate a transverse wave while the rotation of the cam.
