ঘড়িয়াল

ঘড়িয়াল(গ্যাভিয়ালিস গ্যাঞ্জেটিকাস), যা গ্যাভিয়াল নামে পরিচিত, এবং মাছ খাওয়া কুমিরটি গ্যাভিয়ালিডি পরিবারের একটি কুমির। এটি ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশের উত্তর অংশে অবস্থিত। বিশ্বব্যাপী বন্য বাসিন্দাদের সংখ্যা কমপক্ষে ২৩৫ জন , যা নদী বাসস্থান ও সম্পদ হ্রাস, এবং মাছ ধরার জালের কারণে হুমকিতে পড়ছে। ১৯৩০-এর দশকে জনসংখ্যা ব্যাপকভাবে হ্রাস পেয়েছে, ঘরিয়ালটি আইইউসিএন রেড লিস্টে জীব বিপন্ন হিসাবে তালিকাভুক্ত।

Gharial

The gharial (Gavialis gangeticus), also known as the gavial, and fish-eating crocodile is a crocodilian in the family Gavialidae, and is native to Indian subcontinent of northern part. The global wildhariial population is estimated to be 235 , which are threatened by loss of riverine habitat, depletion of fish resources, and entanglement in fishing nets. As the population has declined drastically since the 1930s, the gharial is listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List.
