প্রদর্শনীবস্তুটির চোঙটির ভিতরে তিনটি সমতল দর্পণকে সমবাহু ত্রিভুজের তিনটি বাহু বসিয়ে তৈরি করা এই ক্যালিডোস্কোপের ভিতর দিকে দর্পণ তিনটির প্রতিফলন পরস্পরের সাথে সমান কোণে থাকে। এর ভিতরে তিনস্তরযুক্ত চ্যাপ্টা ত্রিভূজাকৃতিস্বচ্ছ পাত্র যার প্রতিটি স্তরে বিভিন্ন রং এর তরল ভরা আছে। হাতলের সাহায্যে চোঙটি ঘোরালে রঙ্গিন তরল নিচের দিকে গড়িয়ে যাওয়ার সময় যে পরিবর্তনশীল একটি সুন্দর নকশা তৈরি হয়ে তা ত্রিভুজাকৃতি দর্পণের মধ্যে পুনঃ পুনঃ প্রতিফলিত হয়ে দর্শকের চোখে আসে। যার ফলে তৈরি হয় নানান সুষম আকৃতির গতিময় এক পটচিত্র।
