বৃশ্চিক/বিচ্ছু

বৃশ্চিক/ স্করপিয়ন অ্যারাকনিডার মধ্যে এক ধরণের শিকারী প্রাণী যারা স্করপিয়নস্ বর্গের অন্তর্ভূক্ত । আকঁড়ে ধরার জন্য জোড়া সংকীর্ণ খন্ডায়িত  বাঁকানো আটটি পেডিপাল্প যুক্ত পা প্রায় পিঠের উপর দিয়ে বিষযুক্ত কাঁটায় শেষ হয়েছে। যা দিয়ে সহজে এদেরকে চেনা যায়। এটি দৈর্ঘ্যে ৯ সে.মি.। সকল বৃশ্চিকদেরই একটা বিষাক্ত কাঁটা থাকে কিন্তু বেশিরভাগ প্রজাতিই মানুষের জন্য ক্ষতিকর নয় এবং এদের দ্বারা আক্রান্ত ব্যক্তির চিকিৎসা নেওয়ার কোন প্রয়োজন হয় না । মানুষকে মারতে পারে এরূপ ২০টি   প্রজাতি এ পর্যন্ত সনাক্ত করা গিয়েছে।

Scorpion

Scorpion are predatory arachnids of the order scorpions. They have eight legs and are easily recognized by  the grasping pedipalps and  the narrow segmented tail, often carried in a characteristic forward curve over the back ending with a venomous sting. All scorpions have a venomous sting but the vast majority of the species do not represent a serious threat to humans and in most cases healthy adults do not need any medical treatment after being stung. Only about 20 species are known to have venom capable of  killing a human .
