এটি দ্বিতীয় প্রজন্মের ডিজিটাল মেইনফ্রেম কম্পিউটার। ১৯৬৪ সালের শেষ চতুথাংর্শে কলোম্বো পান এর আওতায় বাংলাদেশের এই অংশে অর্থাৎ ঢাকায় এ্যটামিক এনার্জি সেন্টার এ তদানিন্তন পাকিস্তানের প্রথম ডিজিটাল কম্পিউটার স্থাপিত হয়েছিল। সমস্ত পাকিস্তানের বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এবং গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সরকারি ও আধাসরকারি গবেষণা ও উন্নয়ন প্রতিষ্ঠানসমূহ এই কম্পিউটার থেকে কম্পিউটেশন সুবিধা পেয়েছে।  এটিতে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে ফেরাইট কোর মেমোরী, যার একক ছিল ডেসিমেল ডিজিটব দশমিক অংক (০-৯)। সেই জন্য এর মোট ধারন ক্ষমতা ছিল মাত্র ৬০০০০ ডিসিমেল ডিজিট। একটি দশমিক পদ্ধতির অংক ধারন করার জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে ৬টি বিট বা বাইনারি ডিজিট এর মধ্যে ৪টি (০-৯) ধারন করার জন্য, ১টি parity bit (কম্পিউটারের নিজস্ব ব্যবহারের জন্য) একটি flag bit (মাত্রা নির্ধারনের জন্য)।

In Bangladesh IBM 1620 is the first computer under the Colombo plan on the fourth quarter of 1964, first digital computer was established at the Atomic Energy Centre in Dhaka of the then Pakistan. Various universities and important government & semi-government research & development organisation of whole Pakistan got the computational facilities from this computer. Ferrite core memory was used in the machine. The unit of the memory was decimal digit. The total capacity was 60,000 decimal digits. This computer was donated by Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission on 2001.
