সিলাগো

সিলাগিনিডি পরিবারের একটি প্রজাতি হচ্ছে সিলাগো এবং শুধুমাত্র এই পরিবারের এই প্রজাতিটি নন-মনোটাইপিক  প্রকৃতিগতভাবে সকল প্রজাতিই  উপকূলীয় মাছ যারা অগভীর ও সুরক্ষিত জলাশয়ে বাস করে। অবশ্য এদের মধ্যে কিছু ব্যতিক্রম আছে। বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির সিলাগোর চারপাশে ছোট ছোট মাছ অবস্থান করে যা এদের বিস্তৃতির অধিকাংশ জায়গায় এদের গুরুত্ব কমিয়ে দেয়। যে কোন প্রজাতির মধ্যে এই প্রজাতিটির ইন্দো-প্রশান্ত মহাসাগরীয় অঞ্চলে বিশাল বিস্তৃতি রয়েছে।

Sillago

Sillago  is a genus of fish in the family sillaginidae and the only non-morotyic genus in the family.Distinguishing the species can be difficult with many similar in appearance and colour forcing the use of swim bladder morphology as a definitive.All species are benthic in nature and generally coastal fish,living in shallow, protected waters although there are exception.Miror fisheries exist around various species of Sillago ,making them of mirror importance in most of their range.This genus has the widest distribution of any smelt- whiting genus,spanning much of the Indo- pacific.
