জাইরোকম্পাস জাইরোসেকাপের অনরূপ। এটি বৈদ্যুতিকভাবে চালিত, দ্রুত ঘূর্ণনশীল একটি কম্পাস। এটি জাহাজে ব্যাপকভাবে ব্যবহৃত হয়। চুম্বকীয় জাইরোকম্পাসের তুলনায় মেরিন জাইরোকম্পাসের দুইটি প্রধান সুবিধা রয়েছে। যথাঃ

• এরা প্রকৃত উত্তর বের করে, অর্থাৎ চুম্বকীয় উত্তরের বিপরীতে পৃথিবী পৃষ্ঠর উপর আবর্তনশীল অক্ষের সাপেক্ষে, যা নেডিগেশনের জন্য অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয়ৎ
• সাধারণ কম্পাসের মত এরা বাহ্যিক চুম্বকীয় ক্ষেত্র দ্বারা প্রভাবিত হয় না।

A gyrocompass is similar to a gyroscope. It is a compass that can find true north by using an electrically powered, fart spinning gyroscope are widely used on ships. Marine gyrocompasses have two main advantages over magnetic compasses. They are

• They find true north, i.e. the point of the Earth’s rotational axis on the earth’s surface, as opposed to magnetic north, extremely important aspect in navigation and
• They are unaffected by external magnetic fields which deflect normal compasses.
