এ প্রদর্শনীবস্তুটি তড়িৎচুম্বক এবং এটাকে কিভাবে তৈরি করা হয় তা প্রদর্শন করে। বিদ্যুৎ পরিবাহী হেলিক্যাল কুন্ডলী সলিনয়েড নামে পরিচিত। যখন সলিনয়েডের মধ্য দিয়ে একমুখী বিদ্যুৎ প্রবাহ(ডিসি) চালনা করা হয়, তখন সলিনয়েডটি দ- চুম্বকের ন্যায় আচরণ করে। যদি সলিনয়েডটির আকার অশ্বের খুরের  মত হয়, তবে সলিনয়েডটি অশ্ব-খুরাকৃতি চুম্বকের ন্যায় আচরণ করে। বিদ্যুৎ প্রবাহ অপসারণ করলে সলিনয়েডটিতে কোন চুম্বকত্ব থাকে না। যদি সলিনয়েডটির অন্তরদেশ নরম লোহা দ্বারা পূর্ণ করা হয়, তবে চুম্বকের শক্তি বৃদ্ধি পায়। তড়িৎ চুম্বকের মেরুত্ব বিদ্যুৎ প্রবাহের দিক কর্তৃক নির্ণীত হয়। সলিনয়েডের প্রান্তের মধ্য দিয়ে পর্যবেক্ষণে যদি বিদ্যুৎ প্রবাহ ঘড়ির কাঁটার বিপরীতমুখী হয়, তবে ঐ প্রান্তটি উত্তর মেরু হবে। অন্যভাবে সলিনয়েডের প্রান্তের মধ্য দিয়ে পর্যবেক্ষণে যদি বিদ্যুৎ প্রবাহ ঘড়ির কাঁটার সমমুখী হয়, তবে ঐ প্রান্তটি দক্ষিণ মেরু হবে।

This exhibit shows the electromagnet and how it is made. The electrically conductive helical coil is known as the solenoid. When a one-way current (DC) is driven through a solenoid, the solenoid behaves like a bar magnet. If the solenoid is shaped like a horse's hooves, the solenoid behaves like a horse-hooved magnet. The solenoid has no magnetism when the electric current is removed. If the interior of the solenoid is filled with soft iron, the strength of the magnet increases. The polarity of an electromagnet is determined by the direction of current flow. If the current flowing through the edge of the solenoid is counterclockwise, that edge will be the North Pole. On the other hand, if the current flows clockwise in the observation through the edge of the solenoid, that edge will be the south pole.
