কাতল

বাংলাদেশের বহুল পরিচিত মাছের মধ্যে কাতলা বা কাতল অন্যতম। দেশী রুই জাতীয় মাছের মধ্যে তুলনামূলক বৃহৎ আকৃতির মাথা ও মুখ আর প্রশস্থ দেহ এই মাছকে সহজেই অন্য মাছ থেকে আলাদা করে দেয়। উজ্জ্বল ধূসর বর্ণের পৃষ্ঠদেশ ক্রমেই উভয় পাশে ও অঙ্কীয়দিকে রূপালি কালো-সাদা বর্ণ ধারণ করেছে। ছাই-কালো বর্ণের পাখনার এই মাছের আঁইশও তুলনামূলক বড়। প্রধানত নদীর মাছ হলেও আমাদের দেশে মিঠাপানির সকল জলাশয়েই পাওয়া যায়।

Catla

Among the most familiar fish of Bangladesh Catla or Catal  is one of the most famous fish. The relatively large head and face and wide body of the native Rui separates this fish from other fish easily. The surface of bright grey color has gradually been painted on both sides and in a rudimentary-white color. Ash and black-colored feathers of the fishes are comparatively larger. Although it is mainly river fishes, but it is found in freshwater  bodies.
