কচ্ছপ

কচ্ছপ একধরনের সরীসৃপ যারা জলে এবং স্তলে দুই জায়গাতেই বাস করে। এদের শরীরের উপরিভাগ শক্ত খোলসে আবৃত থাকে যা তাদের শরীরকে বিভিন্ন পরিস্থিতিতে রক্ষা করে। কচ্ছপ পৃথিবীতে এখনও বর্তমান এমন প্রাচীন প্রাণীদের মধ্যে অন্যতম। বর্তমানে কচ্ছপের প্রায় ৩০০ টী প্রজাতি পৃথিবীতে রয়েছে, এদের মধ্যে কিছু প্রজাতি মারাত্মক ভাবে বিলুপ্তির পথে । কচ্ছপ বিভিন্ন পরিস্থিতিতে তার নিজের শরীরের অভ্যন্তরীণ তাপমাত্রা পরিবর্তন করতে পারে, যে কারনে এ ধরনের প্রাণীদের ঠান্ডা-রক্তের প্রাণী বলে অভিহিত করা হয়ে। অন্যান্য প্রাণীর মত এরা নিশ্বাস গ্রহণ করে।

Tortoises can change the internal temperature of its own body in different situations, usually called the animals of cold-blooded animals. Like other animals, they accept the breath.
