বিভিন্ন বর্ণের তরলের সাহায্যে বিভিন্ন রং-এর আলপনা দেখা যায়। তরল পদার্থের সান্দ্রতা ধর্মের কারণে তরল ধীর গতিতে গড়িয়ে নামে। প্রদর্শনীবস্তুটির ভিতরে রাখা তিনটি স্তরে তিনটি রং এর তরল তিন রকম রঙিন ফিল্টারের কাজ করে। গড়িয়ে নামতে থাকা তিন রঙের তরলের বহুবিধ মিশ্রণে নতুন নতুন বর্ণময়  ও চিত্রময় আলপনা তৈরি হয়।
