প্রদর্শনীবস্তুটির টিউবটি ঘুরিয়ে ছেড়ে দিলে দেখা যাবে রঙিন তরল মিলেমিশে একাকার হয়ে যাচ্ছে বলে মনে   হচ্ছে । একটু সময় পরেই আবার তরলগুলি আলাদা হয়ে যাচ্ছে । ক্রমেই তারা পূর্বের অবস্থায় ফিরে যাবে।

কারণ: তরলগুলি আসলে কখনোই মিশে যায় না। তেল আর পানির মতই এই তিনটি তরলও পরস্পরের সাথে মিশ্রিত হতে পারে না। আলাদা ঘনত্বের জন্য সবচেয়ে ভারী তরলটি নিচে থিতিয়ে পড়ে। মাঝারি ঘনত্বের তরলটি থাকে তার উপরে এবং সবচেয়ে হালকা তরলটি সবার উপরে থাকে। এ জন্য অতিসহজেই তরলগুলি খুব দ্রুত আলাদা হয়ে যথাস্থানে চলে যায়। প্রত্যেকটি তরলকে পৃথকভাবে এক একটি রঙ দিয়ে সম্পৃক্ত করা থাকে বলে অন্য তরলের রঙও তার মধ্যে মিশে যেতে পারে না।

Rotate the tube gently   and turn it upside down.  Coloured    liquids   inside seem to mix at first  but  gradually  separate  themselves  and occupy  original  positions  pink  at   the top, yellow at the  middle & , blue  at  the bottom  .Rotate again to   the find   that the liquids do never mix. The three liquids are mutually   insoluble, just as oil and water , and  have  different  densities  so  that  the  heaviest  one  always  settles  at  the  bottom  and the  lightest  one  floats  to the  surface .
